Android 5.1 lollipop is installed fresh out the box which is rare and welcome gift for the majority of Chinese androids android 4.4 kit kat is the starting OS and upgrading firmware to android 5.0 not 5.1 lollipop is the norm. Android 5.1 is smoother than and less buggy than 5.0 which in  terms of speeds was actually a little slower than 4.4  which is to be expected as the first 64 Bit Operating system from android would inevitably need refining. 5.0 was released about  6 months prior to 5.1 and in the tech world that's a very long time
